Known for his lifelong interest in Russia and Russian history and his dedication to teaching Eastern European history, Peter Julicher has provided Cranbrook Schools with empassioned service for more than twenty years. Originally a social studies instructor in the Boys Middle School, Julicher joined the Upper School history department in 1988. With school support, he traveled to Russia to conduct research, and while there he met his wife Olga.
During Peter Julicher's Upper School tenure he has instructed classes such as Patterns in Civilization, U.S. History, and a Russian and Eastern European History course for which he wrote his own textbook, Renegades, Rebels and Rogues Under the Tsars. He has also been a dedicated coach to the track and wrestling teams, making his impact on students extend from the classroom to the playing fields. He has a quirky, wonderful sense of humor which keeps colleagues and students alike on their toes, and, although not very many people know it, Julicher has an outstanding singing voice and has taken opera lessons.
