James Ladd
Mathematics Instructor, Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School

Mr. Ladd always made teaching and coaching fun. His animated style in the classroom and on the field made learning a truly enjoyable experience. His "down to earth" personality and approachability deserved him the title "Dad Ladd" especially in the Kingswood dormitory, where he served as a resident faculty member. His philosophy about learning still resonates in my brain today..."if you throw enough mud on the wall (makes pitching motion), some of it is going to stick!" Teenagers sure are impressionable, aren't they! Thanks for the memories, Mr. Ladd!

Because of Mr. Ladd I learned the value and sense of accomplishment that comes as a result of working through a tough situation. I did not realize that struggling through a Calc AP class could parallel some of the difficulties that arise in life.
