Gregory Miller
In addition to teaching countless science classes and spending hundreds of hours volunteering for the Wilderness Expedition, Gregory Miller has also served as coach of the cross country and track teams during his tenure in the upper school.

Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Hillsdale College in 1977 and earned a Master of Science degree from Oakland University in 2003. He also holds a USA Track & Field Level II coaching certification.

Since taking over the cross-country program at Cranbrook, he has guided several squads to state championship contention, including two consecutive top-20 finishes for the boys in 2000 and 2001. While supervising experiments in Gordon Science or preaching endurance and form to runners, Miller succeeds in helping his students focus and learn to improve.

Miller and his wife have raised two children on the Cranbrook campus, and he has worked in the boys' dormitory.

I never took a class with Mr. Miller, but I ran cross country for him, albeit fairly slowly. I learned a lot about managing a team from the way he handled even the slowest runner. I have been coaching lacrosse now for 11 years and I try to remember the things that I learned from him on the cross country team.

Mr. Miller was probably the best chemistry teacher I've ever had! His classes are really fun and he really does know how to teach. Also, he was my Cross Country and Track&Field Coach! Thank you Mr. Miller for my great year at Cranbrook!

Greg is a great teacher, great coach, and an even better person and family man. Having Mr. Miller as a coach for track and cross country, as an advisor, family friend, and as a co-leader in the Wilderness Expedition was one of the experiences that made Cranbrook such a special part of my life.

I remember Mr. Miller as being a very patient, understanding, and caring teacher. He made learning very easy and fun. He is definitely one of the reasons I have some fond memories of Cranbrook.

Greg Miller, who was my faculty guide on Wilderness acted as my pseudo advisor for my last two years at Cranbook, and was an amazing asset.

Mr. Miller was one of my science teachers; in addition he and his family lived in my dorm one year, so I felt very close to him. It was many years before I got around to studying science in college (Post-bac pre-med, 2002-4) but I have done well, and I am sure he is part of the reason why.

Greg Miller was not only a fantastic teacher, but taught me incredible lessons about hard work and discipline.
