I first became acquainted with Jeff Miller during the early/mid-1960s—the venue was little-league football, coached by his father, Bill, a teacher whose care and consideration touched the lives many people (a number of little-league “Wolverines” were treated to their first experience at the “Big House” by Coach Miller—a kindness not forgotten). In retrospect, Jeff’s pursuit of a career in education is appropriate for he was nurtured through his father’s example. As high school days unfolded, Jeff became our quarterback—his traits of leadership (self-discipline, game-execution, and command) were always balanced with consideration and care—he treated his teammates with the highest regard and, in turn, earned everyone’s respect. Clearly, the Cranbrook community is fortunate to embrace Jeff as a faculty member—there are many that still appreciate the friendship he demonstrated from the diminutive, yet formative, days of so long ago. Well-done Jeff!

I have had the pleasure of serving on the All Schools curriculum committee with Jeff for about seven years. Without question, he is one of the most thoughtful, conscientious, generous and optimistic people I have known. He has done everything at Cranbrook: taught middle school, upper school, coached, dorm duty, advisor, etc. His engagement, personality and kindness are a gift to Cranbrook.
