Mrs. Heidt...I still have my recorder from sixth grade, sort of...my daughter has claimed it!

Mrs. Heidt was gold. The programs we pulled off at Brookside were remarkable. When I tell my music buddies about what we did at Brookside, they can't believe it. Some of them are general music teachers. Sometimes, Mrs. Heidt was tough for a general music teacher, but some of those programs would never have come together without her intensity. She let us improvise on the Orff Instruments which was so powerful for me. Today, I am a professional jazz musician so I improvise all the time. I even do improv clinics for young kids and I make sure to let them jam on the Orff instruments also.
