Paul Gerhardt joined the Brookside staff in 1945 as a testing administrator, evaluating and classifying students' intelligence and knowledge.

Gerhardt had extensive training in the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Quotient or IQ test.

Gerhardt was also a fourth-grade instructor and assisted in the school’s sports programs and coached boys' interscholastic teams.
