Frank Gerard
Frank Gerard had the ability to keep pace with and understand the many changes that occurred at Cranbrook during his 34-year tenure at the school.

A longtime head of the math department, Gerard was the ninth recipient of Cranbrook's Independence Chair, an endowment grant from the Independence Foundation awarded to outstanding teachers.

As an instructor, Gerard offered assistance and guidance to the many students who had the privilege of being in his classroom.

I had the privilege of being in Mr. Gerard's class for one year. He was an excellent teacher and introduced me to concepts considerably in advance of the study material specifically concepts in differential geometry. He was one of the main reasons I did graduate work and spent my career in applied mathematics.
