Grace Fry
Grace Fry was assistant headmistress and head of the mathematics department at Kingswood when she retired in 1967.

She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Michigan before coming to Cranbrook in 1929, when the Girls’ School was located at the present location of Brookside. In 1931, when Kingswood was permanently moved across campus, Fry became dean of residence and was later named chairman of the math department and director of studies.

Known for her patience in the classroom, Fry was well liked by students. Many remember her seated during breaks in the Green lobby, offering greetings to passersby.

Fry successfully put into practice George Booth’s famous words, "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve." Her 38 years of service to the school will never be forgotten.
