For 32 years, Hugh Davisson inspired hundreds of Cranbrook students to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

The West Virginia native arrived in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Arts degree from Ohio State University.

Davisson taught social science and mathematics before accepting the position as head of the Lower School.

An athlete in college, Davisson used his experience to coach the football, baseball and basketball teams at the high school and elementary levels. Davisson was also actively involved with the Horizons-Upward Bound program.
