Fran Dagbovie
Fran Dagbovie began her 33-year career at Cranbrook after arriving with her husband, Prospero, from West Africa in the fall of 1970.

Before being hired as an English instructor in the Boys' Upper and Middle Schools in 1971, Dagbovie obtained her Master of Arts degree in teaching and gave birth to the couple's first child, Pero.

Dagbovie went on to head the Boys' Middle School from 1975 until 1979. In this position, she worked toward developing a school responding to the needs of early adolescent students—a self-sufficent middle school with teaching teams. Dagbovie became director of studies in the Cranbrook Upper School in 1979, a position that later evolved into the role of academic dean.

In 1985, Dagbovie was named dean of girls, a position she held until 1989, when Pero graduated and her daughter, Sika, entered the ninth grade. She returned to her role as dean in 1993, while also earning a degree as an educational specialist in school administration from Oakland University and a Master of Arts in counseling from Michigan State University.

Dagbovie later became the dean of girls in the Upper School, a position she would hold for 14 years. As dean, she put strong focus on the behavioral and social development of students.

Dagbovie is currently working as head of the girls' Middle School.

Wow..what can I say about Mrs. Dagbovie other than, she blesses lives of students in ways that are so subtle but provide SO much impact. Mrs. Dagbovie gave me so much advice that had an uncanny way of bringing my ideas out of the sky and into actionable, well thought out ideas. So thanks for being my Mom away from Home!

I was closest to the Dagbovies. Mrs. Dagbovie was my advisor, Mr. Dagbovie was my teacher, and their son Pero was my friend. They were (and no doubt still are) an incredibly warm, interesting family who took great care of me.
